Well, it’s time to start a new chapter. I’ve been drinking coffee a long time. I just want to see what will happen. And so today I actually drank tea. And I want to eventually get off of that too, but I need to wean myself off slowly.

Why? I don’t want to be dependent on caffeine. I don’t like the jittery feeling it gives me, when I have too much. I also believe it may be hurting my wrists. I have started to get pain after typing a lot, and I feel it a lot more after drinking coffee and then typing a lot afterwards.

I wonder how people will react to this, will anyone make a big fuss of it if I decline a cup of tea or coffee? It’s not like I’m stopping them from having it, but we’ll see how it goes. I will keep this diary and you’ll be on the journey with me

Today I started off my caffeination by drinking some leftover chai I had. It wasn’t even proper “real” chai, but a machine made one I got from my local mosque (i.e just water and powder). Well, I added milk to that too. But I slipped today and did have a little bit of coffee, about 1/4 cup. So not too much, but tomorrow I will do my best to skip the coffee temptation at work. Tea for me.

I really like the Ahmad brand of black tea, with cardamom. Earl grey is my next favorite tea. Alright, til tomorrow everyone.

Day 3 here, I think I had caffeine overload. Unfortunately. But … it’s all part of the process. The chai I had around 8 PM was strong. I need to do some push-ups now. Back on the wagon tomorrow. Day 1. Gotta make it a November to Remember.

Day 4 here. Being a Friday, I don’t recall exactly what happened. So the “Real Day 1” is tomorrow.

Saturday morning here and I need to go outside to forget about the caffeine. So I will go outside and chop some wood, breathe in the cool autumn air (it’s 48 degrees with a nice 6 mph wind). I’ll journal again at night.

12/15/2024

Today begins the real day one. Yesterday I had mostly green tea, but also a little bit of chai. And it’s now 12:04 AM, and I am ready to jump in. My rules are simple – I’ll avoid the caffeine unless it come straight to me VIP-style, at which case I’ll have at most 1/3 of the cup and then stop. I want to keep caffeine at the most under 25 mg of caffeine. Will re-log at around 10 PM, God-willing that is.
